The power of internship programmes

29th November 2024

In an industry facing a growing skills gap, raising the profile of the sector and creating opportunities for the next generation of talent is more important than ever.

One tool to help us achieve this is by making contact with a local college and working with them to put an internship programme in place.

The Trussed Rafter Association has recently spoken to Simon Connor, EMEA Product Portfolio Manager of MiTek, about the key learnings that the internship programme they have developed with Dudley College of Technology has brought to their business.

To help members and others gain a better understanding of this important tool TRA is hosting  a webinar to share insights about the development of an internship programme and the benefits it could bring

The webinar is scheduled to take place on Wednesday 11 December, from 11 am to 1 pm, attendees will hear from:

  • Simon Connor, EMEA Product Portfolio Manager at MiTek, will share insights into how the internship programme was launched and developed.
  • Jullie Tibbetts, Employer Engagement Support Coordinator, Dudley College of Technologyon the broader impact of this initiative and on nurturing the next generation of UK engineers
  • Rohan Patel about his experience as an intern with the programme
  • Leah Llewellyn, Operations Manager, ETS on how the programme offers real-world experience through design and factory visits.

Internship programmes are more than just a way to support young professionals. They are a lifeline for an industry in need of fresh ideas and skilled talent.

Attendees will gain actionable insights into how these programmes can be implemented, their impact on the workforce, and how your organisation can benefit.
