Easi Joists were used in the design and supply of a new range of houses going totally green.
Cawrey Homes wanted to supply a house that met the highest sustainability standards, incorporating:
- Highly insulated floors, walls and roof construction
- Responsibly sourced materials
- A sedum roof to reduce rainwater run-off
- Air source heat pump providing underfloor heating to the ground floor and radiators on the first floor
- Solar Photovoltaic panels on the roof
The roof and floor design was completed by Harlow Timber Systems in conjunction with Wolf Systems. The team was asked to design a roof with a low pitch which had to accommodate a large North light window within the roof. Harlow’s design team also managed to design the roof to accommodate the high levels of loading associated with the new green roof technology. The design also had to incorporate ducting for the heating exchange system. The floor was designed again with high loadings. The scheme consisted of 34 units with Easi floor and roof on all units.
