Robinson Manufacturing autistic school

One of the major projects that Robinson Manufacturing has been working on is the new school for The National Autistic Society. It has been designed by Robinson’s team for the Anderson Group and is a successful collaboration between architects, structural engineers, site agents and supplier.

Based at the former Tottenham Hotspur’s training ground at Chigwell, the new school is a purpose built educational centre for autistic children, and has a value of over £120,000.

Given the building’s bespoke design to accommodate the needs of autistic children, there needed to be unique truss design features to overcome challenges whilst staying true to the original design. Truss design integrated to also form parapet walls, and Glulam beams were used to span trusses and extremely long distances at shallow pitches. The truss design layouts had to be incredibly comprehensive.

Design office manager for Robinson Manufacturing, Matt Korny, commented on his team’s approach to the major project: “This was a very large and complicated roof which required the designer to spend many weeks perfecting the detail and meeting the customers needs. The team performed this task tirelessly and deserves great credit for overcoming the many challenges that the project presented.”
