Children at a primary school in Argyll and Bute can enjoy lessons in the great outdoors after Pasquill, the UK’s leading manufacturer of roof trusses and engineered timber solutions, donated materials for a new gazebo in the school grounds.
The wooden structure at Dunbeg Primary School, near Oban, will be used by pupils for learning and play. Pasquill Perth was approached by Argyll-based company, MacLeod Construction, to help support the project by designing five timber roof trusses, which Pasquill engineered and supplied free of charge with other items including loose timbers and metalwork.
The custom-made trusses, supplied by Pasquill’s Uddingston factory, support a fully tiled roof meaning the gazebo, which measures five metres by five metres, can be used by youngsters and staff for shelter all-year-round. The donation has come at the perfect time considering the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent need for social distancing measures and outdoor spaces.
Pasquill Senior Designer, Ian Haig, said: “When we were approached by one of our biggest customers, we were keen to help out as it was clear to see just how important this wonderful structure would be for both youngsters and staff at Dunbeg Primary School, particularly in light of the Covid-19 pandemic. We hope that the new space will help make a real difference now and for many more years to come.”
MacLeod Construction Design and Production Manager, Stuart MacDonald, added: “We are currently working on a 300-house development in Dunbeg and were delighted to work with the primary school there to donate and install a new gazebo. We approached Pasquill because they have been a tried and trusted supplier of ours for well over 20 years. We also had quite a quick turnaround and we knew we could rely on Ian and the team. The school is absolutely delighted with the end result.”
