Spandrel Panel Guide Review

28th October 2021
TRA Party Wall Spandrel Panel Guide

The TRA’s Party Wall Spandrel Panel guide is currently under review. Members who are producing two-layer plasterboard party wall spandrels are asked to get involved and give their input towards these changes.

Spandrel panels are an offsite manufactured product, put together in quality-assured factory conditions before being delivered direct to site. Internal spandrel panels can be used in cold roof spaces for structural timber construction with trussed rafter roofs. These spandrel panels continue the party wall function into the roof space to fulfil sound and fire separation between dwellings.

Using spandrel panels can save hours of bricklaying time, supporting the use of modern methods of construction, and reduces time spent working at height, so aids site safety.

The TRA’s technical committee would welcome any comments or suggestions relating to party wall spandrels.  To see the current guide, click here. Please get in touch with your ideas by clicking here. We would particularly ask members who are producing two-layer plasterboard party wall spandrels to use this link to register their company’s interest in the discussion.

There are no plans to change the information relating to single layer Fermacell panels within the guidance, but if you believe changes are necessary, please use the link to make your suggestions known to the technical committee.
