Investing in production growth at DWB Anglia Ltd
25th October 2025
DWB Anglia Ltd has completed a major investment to boost its production capabilities and strengthen its position as a leading supplier of Posi-Joists and Trussed Rafters.
The expansion includes new factory space, upgraded machinery, and improved layout efficiency, ensuring the company can continue meeting customer demand with faster turnaround times and enhanced safety.
Meeting growing customer expectations
DWB Anglia identified that turnaround times and production capacity were under pressure.
To maintain high service standards and meet rising demand, the business needed to significantly increase output in both Posi-Joists and Trussed Rafters.
The challenges were a mixture of missed deadlines, backlogs, and the need for overtime, but the turning point came when DWB lost an order to a competitor that could deliver more quickly. This highlighted the risk of customers moving to other suppliers and stunting DWB’s growth potential. The continued pattern of customers unwilling to wait or order in time for DWB’s turnaround capabilities made investment essential.
£1.2m investment in space and technology
The company committed to a £1.2m investment programme to expand factory space and upgrade machinery. After securing planning permission, construction began on a new 24m x 12m Posi unit. This new facility now houses the original A V Birch roller press alongside a brand-new second roller press, effectively doubling pressing capacity for joist manufacture
The A V Birch roller press was chosen for its faster production times for short-run joists. while the Mitek MK1 press for Trussed Rafters was a natural choice for DWB as a Mitek Systems user, supported by strong incentives from the manufacturer.
To further enhance safety and efficiency, a further 12m overhead crane gantry was installed above the new MK1. With roof truss sections becoming larger due to developers maximising loft space, the cranes were essential to safely handle components exceeding the 95kg manual lifting limit.
The new build also includes a 12m x 6m mezzanine, currently used for storage but designed to become future design office space. Once complete, it will house two additional joist quoting team members, allowing room for two more truss quoting staff in the main office.
Relocating the original Birch roller press freed up the existing factory to become a dedicated Trussed Rafter production area. This area now benefits from the new 8-table Mitek MK1 press, which, alongside the existing 21m table press, has increased truss production capacity by an impressive 70%.
The full project, including planning, construction, and installation, was completed within 12 months. While satisfying flood risk requirements during planning presented a challenge, construction ran smoothly thanks to the company’s strong relationships with local builders. The team adapted quickly to the new layout and equipment, benefitting from the extra space and improved workflow.
Future-proofing production and customer service
Although the building industry has slowed in recent months, DWB Anglia is now in a strong position to respond rapidly when demand increases. Customers are already benefiting from faster turnaround times and deliveries that better align with their project schedules.
The expansion has created safer and easier working conditions, with greater factory space, improving operational flow. Staff morale remains high, supported by a dedicated core team committed to maintaining quality and efficiency.
This £1.2m investment has transformed DWB Anglia’s production capabilities, future-proofing operations and providing the foundation for sustainable long-term growth.
