Buckmore Green: EGGER flooring brings speed & durability to South Downs housing

Buckmore Green is a new development from award-winning housebuilder Dandara, located in the market town of Petersfield, on the edge of the South Downs National Park.

A collection of 85 units, the housing ranges from two-bedroom apartments to four-bedroom homes. They’re designed to complement their surroundings, with materials, designs and architectural features reflective of the local character.

“It captures what makes Petersfield such a special place to live,” says Zoey Rampton, Head of Sales at Dandara Southern. “It’s rare to find a site where you can walk into town one way and be out on country paths the other, and that balance has shaped every decision we’ve made.”

Durable flooring boards from EGGER

At the core of the houses lie structural flooring boards: heavy-duty and load-bearing panels that are installed directly onto floor joists to form the main subfloor. Dandara has specified EGGER Protect flooring boards on the development, chosen for durability and its contribution to streamlined build schedules.

“As a site manager, my priority for any flooring product or system is always for it to be durable and easy to handle for my teams on site,” states Luke McCarthy, Site Manager at Dandara. “It should also positively contribute to quality and speed of build. EGGER and Dandara have been working collaboratively for a number of years, with a specification agreement in place for EGGER’s Peel Clean Xtra and Protect structural flooring systems.

“All the products have been designed with the team in mind,” explained Luke. “They’re lightweight for the trades to carry, provide protection against the working environment and are durable; they can be installed in all sorts of conditions, enabling us to continue the build effectively.”

100 days of exposure

“Working in construction in England at different times of year, you can be faced with all manner of weather conditions,” Luke points out. “The 100-day exposure rating offered by EGGER Protect provides the freedom to be a bit vulnerable at times, giving you added time to build without worrying about weather damage or delays.”

EGGER Protect flooring boards can be left exposed to the elements for up to 100 days and has been classified with a ‘Low Slip Potential’ by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). When installed with EGGER Joint & Joist Adhesive, all products benefit from EGGER’s Advanced Lifetime Guarantee.

A sustainable approach to placemaking

“Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do; we’re building homes for the future,” said Luke. “Our houses use air source heat pumps, solar panels, EV chargers and enhanced insulation, all compliant with Part L of the Building Regulations.”
