Building a Career from the Ground Up: Jack West-Jordan’s Journey

12th August 2025

Jack West-Jordan’s journey with Crendon Timber Engineering is a shining example of dedication, adaptability and career growth within the trussed rafter industry. From work experience student to Branch Manager of Crendon’s largest site, Jack’s 15-year journey reflects his unwavering commitment to the industry and those around him.

Jack’s story began in 2006 with a two-week placement at East Harling, who was operating as Aspect Roofing. Returning after full-time education in 2010, Jack applied for a factory role, arriving at his interview fully suited and booted. That early display of professionalism caught the attention of the team, and he was instead offered a trainee sales and estimator position.

From the outset, Jack excelled. He quickly mastered MiTek software, took on complex projects with ease, and showed initiative by visiting merchant clients and carrying out site measures. His energy and focus made him a key part of the team as the business evolved.

Thriving through change

Following Crendon’s acquisition of Aspect Roofing in 2012, Jack embraced the change and continued to grow, forging new relationships and supporting the business’s expansion into the housing market.

“Jack’s development has been outstanding,” says nominator Tim Wilson. “He’s gone from trainee to Branch Manager in one company through hard work, professionalism, and the respect he earns from his team and clients. He sets the benchmark for what’s possible when you combine opportunity with determination.”

Jack’s impact goes beyond sales and estimating. He has consistently championed innovation and collaboration, completing an NVQ Level 2 in Business Improvement Techniques and leading on the implementation of software and process changes across Crendon’s network. His work in improving efficiency and bridging commercial and operational teams has had lasting results.

In 2016, amid a £1 million investment in East Harling’s site and equipment, Jack was promoted to Senior Housing Estimator. He helped exceed ambitious turnover targets and was selected for the company’s FAST TRACK management programme. From there, he steadily rose through the ranks – becoming Housing Manager in 2018, Commercial Manager in 2021, and finally Branch Manager in 2025.

Stepping up the ladder

Throughout his journey, Jack has actively pursued his development. He has completed training in time management, HR, IOSH Managing Safely, and Operators Licence Awareness – a reflection of his holistic leadership approach.

Speaking about his journey, Jack says: “I’m grateful for the many years of service working with an outstanding team, whose collective knowledge and support have been crucial to not only my personal development and career progression but also the overall business performance. I have a true sense of accomplishment in now leading the colleagues who once mentored me. Moving forward, my passion lies in inspiring my staff to explore and realise their highest potential.”

Jack’s promotion to Branch Manager marks a significant milestone – but more than that, it reflects the ethos he brings to the job: to lead with integrity, build strong relationships, and make a lasting difference.

His story is one of consistent learning, loyalty and leadership. As Crendon continues to grow, Jack West-Jordan stands out as a clear example of how investing in people pays off – not just for the individual, but for the whole business.
