Celebrating women leading the timber industry
29th May 2025
The TRA is proud to announce its support for a new industry event celebrating the role of women in the timber and timber engineering sectors.
Organised by Timber Development UK (TDUK), the Women in Timber event will take place on Friday 5 September 2025, from 10 am to 3 pm, at Oulton Hall Hotel & Spa near Leeds.
The one-day, business-focused event is designed to raise the profile of women working across the timber supply chain, showcase their achievements, and encourage more young women to consider careers in timber and construction industries traditionally seen as male-dominated.
Event agenda
The event will highlight the evolving nature of the sector, with a programme aimed at inspiring, informing, and connecting professionals at all levels. Here’s what members can expect at the event:
- Panel discussions with leading voices from across the timber industry
- Interactive workshops focused on confidence-building and personal development
- Networking opportunities with professionals, mentors, and peers
- Personal success stories showcasing the journeys of women in timber
- A charity raffle in support of the Timber Trades’ Benevolent Society (TTBS)
Why TRA members should get involved
As part of the wider timber community, the TRA see this event as a vital step in encouraging more young women to see timber engineering as a rewarding and viable career.
If you’re passionate about supporting new talent, growing the industry, or learning from others in the field, this is an event not to miss.
Nick Boulton, chief executive of the TRA says:
“As part of the wider timber community, we believe this event represents a vital opportunity to support new talent and create a more inclusive future for timber engineering. Events like Women in Timber help break down barriers, build networks, and show that our industry is open, supportive and full of opportunity.”
