Coronavirus advice – staying safe

20th March 2020

As the Coronavirus situation develops, it is all of our responsibility to help keep ourselves and our employees healthy, safe, productive and protected.

Working remotely isn’t an option for all members’ employees and that is why action needs to be taken to minimise risk.

The TRA has recently opted to host meetings online as a way to combat the spread of the virus and to help those companies with travel bans in place.

The Government is currently the best source of official advice for employers – please check it on a regular basis for updates, along with advice from the NHS 111 Covid-19 service.

A source of industry information is the Timber Trade Federation (TTF) website. As the landscape is changing rapidly, the TTF website is updated daily. Please see the link below for the latest on Covid-19 relating to the timber sector.

For construction contract advice the best place to keep up to date is via the BPE website. Anna Wood from BPE, who presented at the TRA AGM in 2014, has written a comprehensive article on how building contracts may allocate risk. Please see the link below.

For essential cyber security advice, especially while so many people are working from home, check out the free online training for employees and tips for SME employers from the National Cyber Security Centre.
