Loading of trussed rafters for delivery safety card delivered
9th December 2024The TRA’s health and safety committee has published updated guidance on the loading and delivery of trussed rafters.
Loading trussed rafters for delivery requires strict adherence to safety protocols to prevent accidents and protect the structural integrity of the materials. The updated Loading of Trussed Rafters for Delivery outlines essential practices for TRA members.
The guidelines cover everything from setting up a safe loading area to securing the trusses on vehicles for transport. By following these procedures, members can ensure safe handling, minimise risks, and maintain the quality of trussed rafters through the delivery process.
Nick Boulton, said:
“The TRA Health and Safety Committee regularly reviews the safety information made available to all TRA members. This loading safety card is based on tried and tested principles to help protect staff who need to access the lorry bed during loading to secure the trussed rafters for transport and ensure they can be safely unloaded.
TRA member companies have and will continue to test alternative systems and equipment to safely load trussed rafters for despatch. However, to date, members have not been able to identify alternatives which significantly improve on those described in this updated safety card.”
“By adhering to these protocols, TRA members can not only protect their teams but also ensure the integrity of every trussed rafter delivered, upholding the highest standard of our industry.”
