The TRA Annual General Meeting, conference and dinner returns on 18 April 2024 at the Mercure Warwickshire Walton Hall Hotel & Spa, and is open to all TRA members and other businesses involved in timber engineering.

The focus of this year’s conference is technical and safety issues, and business management topics that will be of particular interest to directors and senior leadership teams.

Our topics will cover:

• The implications of the Future Homes Standard for timber engineering
• How the new building safety regime and a National Regulator for Construction Products will affect your business
• How to protect your employees with the TRA’s essential update to Health & Safety
• Understanding your employees and the importance of training and retention
• Importance of getting third-party certification for your products

In addition to these expert workshops, delegates will get an update on all the major regulatory and technical issues affecting the sector and the support available from the TRA, and members can vote on key decisions at the AGM.

To round up the day’s events we have invited Chris Hines MBE Hon.D.Sc as our keynote speaker.

Chris is an inspirational character who has been working and campaigning for the environment for 30 years and revels in inspiring positive change. He is the co-founder and then Director of Surfers Against Sewage from 1990 to 2000 and is regarded as “some of the Government’s most sophisticated environmental critics” by the BBC and “Britain’s coolest pressure group.” By the Independent, the SAS helped deliver massive environmental improvements.

Chris was then Sustainability Director at the Eden Project for 5 years. This included conceiving and delivering “Waste Neutral”, an early version of the circular economy and helping embed the triple bottom line of sustainable business practice throughout the organisation.

The AGM and conference is free to attend, with a small charge for the evening networking and celebratory dinner, which includes the presentation of this year’s Roofscape Design Awards.
