Review of ’22
21st December 2022Looking back on the year, it will be remembered as a roller coaster year if for no other reason than we had three prime ministers in less than 50 days! Our main housing markets started buoyantly and remained strong throughout, only now starting to stall due to the weight of increasing material and energy costs. The TRA delivered a positive AGM back in April addressing the topics that are important to members. The AGM 2023 will be just as optimistic but reflecting the very different economic climate we now face. Look out for more details in the new year.
We welcome Luke Roberts as the new vice chairman to the TRA and endorse his ambition to ensure that through the work of the TRA, our sector remains vibrant and attracts the young professionals we need for the designers, production controllers, sales and management teams of the future.
We can be proud of the work we have done towards building the Designer Development Programme with three levels of trussed rafter evidence books complete, and Level 1 metal web content well underway. We now look forward to developing the assessors we need to support this new program.
May I take this opportunity to wish all TRA members and their families a merry Christmas and a happy new year.
With warm wishes
Nick Boulton, chief executive
