TRA connects with the next generation of carpentry professionals
25th May 2024Chief executive of the TRA, Nick Boulton, recently attended the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB) – Institute of Carpenters (IOC) Timber Industry College Hub Event which was hosted by New College Durham.
The event drew over 100 students, who heard from diverse speakers, who spoke about the opportunities that are available to them.
Nick Boulton commented:
“With such a demand for skills in the industry, there is no better time to be in front of these young professionals to showcase the many employment opportunities that are available within the UK and international timber supply chain.
“The Timber Industry College Hubs initiative is a great opportunity for students currently in construction colleges across the country to connect with timber supply chain businesses in different regions across the UK.
“Employers value experience, whether it was a short-term work experience or an apprenticeship, the next generation of carpentry professionals can form a lifelong career that supports the industry.
“Every year, there will be a group of professionals leaving the industry, and it is up to the next generation to carry the baton and continue their great work.”
Further events will take place during 2024/25 at colleges around the UK. The next event is at the Leeds College of Building on Thursday 26th September.
