Often it is the small companies which have the flexibility to drive innovation. A small Worcestershire housebuilder has switched to using floor cassettes for the benefits of saving onsite carpentry time, to reduce build time and for the improved health and safety control.
On a modest detached house, the builder produced a saving of £1,000 against installing loose joists. In addition he chose metal web joists for the benefit of following trades and threw down a gauntlet for national builders to pick up.
Naturally having approached a few companies, he chose Scotts Timber Engineering to develop the design that best suited his requirements.
